Parenting Tips Things to do on a rainy day

One of my favorite things to do on a rainy day for those “rainy day for kids” blues is to have a Trading Day. We invite a few of my son’s friends over to trade unwanted toys, games, DVD’s and movies. The kids love the idea of getting something “new” and parents love the idea that their kids are at my house and getting rid of “junk”.

There are some ground rules for our rainy day fun.

1. No Peer Pressure Trades
2. Parents must approve all items brought for trading
3. Items must be in working condition
4. No arguing, fighting
5. Trade backs are allowed
6. Everyone gets to bid and everyone gets to try out the item

I usually make a couple of bowls of popcorn, setup several TV’s and Game systems and give the kids plenty of room to lounge around. This keeps them out of my way and occupied for hour
