Movie Warning: Marley and Me
Ok, I’ll be honest and admit I haven’t seen the movie or read the book. However, from the comments I’ve been reading on the web, this is definitely NOT a movie for children.
Quite a few parents are upset that the trailer of this film does not accurately depict the contents. There seems to be quite a bit of sexual content, a miscarriage, a stabbing, and a long drawn out process of putting a beloved dog to sleep. Just a little note, it is rated PG.
Parents have reported leaving the theater during the film because it was too intense for their children.
We all know as parents that death is a part of life and cannot be avoided. Most parents would agree that it is a sensitive subject that should be handled very carefully. A packed theater may not be the most opportune time to have this conversation.
So, consider yourselves duly warned. This is not a Beethoven type movie.

I totally agree with upper story. My girlfriend and me wanted to have a nice evening, since it was valentines-day. Since we also have a blonde labrador, we thought (after viewing the trailer) that we were going to have a great evening. Sure, death is a part of life, but to show it this way in a two hour movie, I mean… Come on! Our night ended in disaster en yes, people als left the theater. You could see that the dog was aging, but when we wanted to leave, it was too late. They had to put him in eternal sleep. So people, if you really don’t want to feel sad (as the rest of the theater did), avoid this movie and certainly do not trust the trailer!

Danny,
I didn’t know this was how the movie ended. And I definitely agree…if you’re a dog lover (or PETA fanatic) staying away from this movie is the way to go.
