The cleanup has begun… And it started with a message to our fellow Mommy Blogger Katja Presnal. It was Katja’s YouTube Video that we featured yesterday on this Blog.

According to Katja’s Blog, Ladybug Landings the following message was received from Kathy Widmer of McNeil Consumer Healthcare.
Dear Katja -
I am the Vice President of Marketing for McNeil Consumer Healthcare. I have responsibility for the Motrin Brand, and am responding to concerns about recent advertising on our website. I am, myself, a mom of 3 daughters.
We certainly did not mean to offend moms through our advertising. Instead, we had intended to demonstrate genuine sympathy and appreciation for all that parents do for their babies. We believe deeply that moms know best and we sincerely apologize for disappointing you. Please know that we take your feedback seriously and will take swift action with regard to this ad. We are in process of removing it from our website. It will take longer, unfortunately, for it to be removed from magazine print as it is currently on newstands and in distribution.

hi

good luck
Michael,
McNeil Consumer Healthcare may not have cared in the beginning but when you have this much bad press, you start to care.
Oh come on – you didn’t care one way or the other – it’s always about pushing your message out there – if nobody had said a thing, you’d still be doing it.
Because you don’t understand the nuances of “Social Media” a few bloggers took issue with your tactics – now you are in damage control mode.
My advice to you is to just keep quiet about everything – next week, something else will come along and nobody will be talking about Motrin.
I mean, who really cares – as long as you sell product, right?
