And The Earth Day Winner Is …

Our first place winner of Our First Earth Day Giveaway is MICHELE HORNE. I loved her idea not only because it was green but also because it was charitable. You can save the Earth and help those in need. Michele suggested donating sneakers in good condition to Soles4Souls where they can be given to people in desperate need of shoes like victims of natural disasters. She also said you can donate sneakers that are not suitable for wearing to Nike’s Reuse a Shoe Program. The Reuse-A-Shoe program takes shoes and turns them into Nike Grind, which is then used in sports surfaces, playgrounds and new Nike products. She also suggested donating your wedding dress to MakingMemories.org. Making Memories grants wishes to women with metastatic breast cancer.
Our first runner up is CATHERINE HARRS. Catherine’s school is doing an awesome job of teaching children about saving the Earth by participating in a recycling program through Terracycle. They recycle juice pouches, Nabisco cookie wrappers and Frito Lay chip products. Terracycle then reuses these items to make cool items like notebooks, pencil cases and totes.
Finally, KATHLEEN and RAMONA WEST are the winners of our honorable mention gifts. Kathleen had a unique and creative way to recycle cards into origami boxes. Kathleen also uses frozen juice can lids to make ornaments. Ramona West had a long list of ways all of us can do our part to help the environment. Ramona reminded us of the little things that don’t take any effort to do but can save a lot.
All winners will be notified via email.
WAY TO GO GUYS!!! Thanks so much for giving us new ideas to help save the Earth and HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!
