It’s Not About Adoption …. It’s about Family
I recently had the pleasure of a lazy week-end. You know the kind. The kind of week-end when it’s rainy outside, the house is a mess, the kids are off on their own adventures and you’ve got a new book to read.
My housework avoidance activity was a new book by the fabulously funny and serious author, Melissa Fay Greene.
“No Biking In The House Without A Helmet” is Ms. Greene’s fifth book and I’m sure the one closest to her heart. A story about the formation of her family of nine children, the book is both heart-warming, entertaining, at times laugh-out-loud funny and always a good read.
I expected a book about the trials of adoption, what I got was a book about the trials of family, sibling rivalry and the incredible power of giving.
As the third child of a family of seven children, I could relate to the issues of jealousy, territorial disputes and clashing personalities. I could also relate to the bonds that form in spite of the differences.
I don’t want to give away too much of their story but I do want to recommend you spend a week-end avoiding the laundry, sitting in your favorite chair reading this story.
(Yes, I did receive a free advanced copy of this book but it is now available at Amazon in both hardcover and Kindle versions)
