Father’s Day gifts and the choosing of what’s the right one for your dad can be something of a minefield.
You don’t want to be too cheap but you also want to keep in mind what’s going on with the economy and be prudent with your money. And of course at least in my family Mother’s Day has always been more emphasized so father’s day has been treated like the red-headed stepchild. So what to get dad that won’t be corny, that he’ll like, and that won’t break the bank?
The cool thing about the Internet is it’s a great place to comparison and price shop without having to waste any drivetime or commute time nor any gas money. And it’s right at your fingertips so it’s lightning fast, assuming you have a broadband connection. As a side note if you don’t have a broadband connection that’s child abuse and cruelty so get one immediately.
So I was looking around to get some gifts for fathers day that weren’t corny and that he’d actually like.
My dad is something of a sportsman, a state worker, a father of five, and is currently studying religiously for an engineering certification test he’ll be taking in October. He’s always been one of those guys who hates procrastination and works really hard on his studies.
“So why am I telling you this?”
Because profiling who your dad is, knowing his tendencies, and being acutely aware of what he likes will give you a far better chance of getting that perfect gift…or at least a gift which comes as close to perfect as you can possibly get in this world.
I’ll probably end up getting my dad something fishing related because he does love saltwater fishing down in the Gulf of Mexico.
Your dad may be one of those who loves barbecues, outdoor pool accessories, or even just a 12 pack of beer. At the end of the day it’s not the gift which is so important but knowing what kind of things he likes and buying something which fits into what your dad likes.
Some of the sites you can go to to look for gifts (and you want to do this right now due to the shipping time are):
- Shopping.com
- eBay.com
- Craigslist.com (there are some new items on here as well as quality used items if you going to get them something more expensive than the 502 $2000 price range)
- Amazon.com
And of course any other kinds of product specific websites depending on your father’s interests.
Also, if you’re the wife you could get your husband a special spicy and sexy gift because even though I’m not a father I know all dads would love that.
I fully realize if you’re a woman reading this you’ve probably already got him a gift because you’re ahead of the game. But if you’re a guy out there reading this now you’ve only got a few days left to get your gift shopping and gift buying done right now so it’ll have time to ship to your house. Otherwsie you’ll have to get off your ass, into the car and drive to the store. I know how much I hate that and you probably do to so take the easy, smart road and buy off the internet.
Seeing that look of surprise and contentment on dad’s face is a great reward for all those years of sacrifice he gave to the family.
Tell me and the parenting help me community about any cool or especially memorable Father’s Day gifts you can remember giving. I’ll look forward to your comments.
