Earth Day At The Birmingham Botanical Gardens
The 12 annual Earth Day at The Gardens will be held on April 26, 2009 at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in Birmingham, Alabama. This is one of the largest Earth Day celebrations in the South. The event will be hosted, rain or shine.
Get your friends and family together and join in celebrating our natural world. Earth Day at The Gardens includes free, hands-on activities for all age groups. There is a scavenger hunt to learn about nature and the environment around us. There will also be recycled art projects, painting canvas bags, building pine cone bird feeders, and making seed magnets.
All the activities are provided by over 60 nonprofit environmentally-focused organizations to help people learn about Alabama’s natural resources, its plants and animals, and the important environmental issues facing Alabama communities. Leading local experts highlight what is being done to protect, conserve, and treasure our land, water, and air.
Technical Knock Out (TKO), an electronics recycling company, will set up shop in the parking lot to collect used and unwanted electronics products. For more information about TKO’s services click here.
There will also be musical entertainment from 1:00 – 5:30 p.m. provided by some diverse musical acts.
Come and join the celebration and find out more about earth day. If you are not in the Birmingham area, then look for earth day activities in your local area.
